Acquiring said this, a lot of NiMH batteries, such as the Duracell rechargeable batteries, will come comparatively near the 1.5v when new, or freshly charged. The large difference is the fact that an NiMH battery generally will offer this output to get a considerably longer time, whereas an alkaline, whilst it may appear to outperform the NiMH initially, will drop off in power faster.
